## Factory monitoring on your side vs. QC inspection in China: which one do you need?

Factory monitoring vs QC inspection in China comes down to one question: is your risk this shipment, or this supplier? QC inspection tests a batch. Client-side monitoring follows the relationship. If you already have a supplier, the risks that matter are drift, silence, or a story that won’t hold up when someone asks for proof.

### The short answer

Need someone to sample cartons against an AQL before the container leaves? Book a third-party inspection. Need someone who works only for you, month after month, on a factory you already chose, covering price, quality, paperwork and the record you may have to produce later? That’s client-side monitoring. We do the second job, not the first, and we don’t pick factories for you. China Agent has worked on the client side in China since 2009. Today it is a Hong Kong company with people in Guangzhou, Foshan, Yiwu, Shenzhen and Jinan.

### Why the search results mix these up

Type "China factory monitoring" into Google and you land in inspection territory. Pre-shipment. During production. Weekend coverage. Man-day rates. Real companies, and for a ship-or-don't-ship call, the right tool.

The problem is the word "monitoring." Importers mean two different jobs by it.

**One-day QC.** An inspector shows up, counts defects, writes a report, leaves. Paid per visit, usually tied to a shipment.

**Ongoing client-side control.** Someone on your side keeps watching the same supplier after the PO is placed. It catches price creep, quality drift, a swapped entity, and missing documents while there's still time to act.

Inspection companies own the first meaning. That's fine for a shipment decision. It's the wrong tool when the worry is the supplier itself.

### What inspection is good for

Inspection answers one question: is this lot good enough to ship?

It doesn't answer whether this is still the entity you paid last year. Whether the boss quietly moved production to a subcontractor. Whether the labor and material records are something you could hand CBP if asked. Whether the unit price has been "market conditions" for three months while the inputs sat flat.

It’s easy to treat a clean pre-shipment report as proof the relationship is healthy. It’s proof of one sample on one day. Useful, but not the same as having someone who answers only to you, every month.

### What client-side monitoring is

The fee comes from you, not the factory. No commission on the PO. No reason to sit on bad news so the order ships.

At China Agent that's productized work on a supplier you already have:

**[Supplier Reality Check](https://www.china-agent.com/supplier-reality-check)**: a written answer on one supplier in two business days, before you scale. $95.

**Due diligence and [Chinese-law contracts](https://www.china-agent.com/contracts)**, so the file means something in a Chinese court, not just an English email thread.

**[Monthly Support](https://www.china-agent.com/monthly-support-packages)**: we keep eyes on the relationship. Up to three suppliers from $995 a month, plus a $1,000 setup fee, month to month. No factory commission. No hidden middleman.

**[Your own employee in China](https://www.china-agent.com/employee-in-china)**: a full-time person employed through our local hub, which is legally registered in that city, working only for you. From $595 a month, setup from $1,800. It’s a separate service from Monthly Support. Tell us which one you need.

We verify, visit, draft, and stay on the file. We don't pick factories. We don't file your customs entry. Your broker files, and you certify. Confirm current CBP and UFLPA requirements with counsel who does that work. We help you have evidence worth submitting. Not a guarantee of clearance.

### A simple way to choose

There's one question worth answering before you pick a vendor: is this about the container, or about the supplier?

| Situation | Better fit |
| --- | --- |
| Goods are packed, you need a go / no-go on the lot | Third-party QC inspection |
| You already buy from them, price or quality is drifting | Client-side monthly monitoring |
| You've never stood in the building and the order is getting bigger | Reality check / due diligence before you scale |
| You need a Chinese-law contract the court will recognize | Contracts under Chinese law, not an English PDF |
| Someone may ask for evidence from the actual factory that makes your goods, and you don't have it. | Ongoing record while production happens, not a scramble after a letter |

You can use both: inspection for the shipment, client-side monitoring for the relationship. The mistake is paying for one and expecting the other.

### Quick answer

**What’s the difference between factory monitoring and QC inspection in China?**

QC inspection tests whether one shipment is good enough to ship: sampling, defect counts and a pass/fail report tied to one visit. Client-side factory monitoring is ongoing oversight of a supplier you already have, covering price, quality, paperwork and records month over month. You pay for it. We take nothing from the factory and no commission on the purchase order.

### What to do this week

Write down the supplier you already have and the failure you actually fear: drift, detention, a fake factory, or quiet subcontracting.

If the fear is this lot, get an inspection quote from a QC firm and ask in writing about weekend and holiday rates.

If the fear is this relationship, read [Monthly Support Packages](https://www.china-agent.com/monthly-support-packages) and [About Us](https://www.china-agent.com/about-us), especially the lines on fixed fees and no factory commission.

If you just want a first factual cut on one name, start with a Supplier Reality Check at $95.

If you’d rather talk it through first, [book a free 30-minute call](https://www.china-agent.com/booking) or message us on [WhatsApp +86 153 2208 6875](https://wa.me/8615322086875) and tell us what’s going on.

Inspection companies will keep winning the word "monitoring" until importers say the split out loud. QC for the batch. Client side for the supplier you already chose.

### Are you worried about this container or this supplier.

A container problem gets solved by an inspector this week. A supplier problem doesn't get solved by anyone who shows up once.

Someone on our team reads what your supplier sends before you act on it, and catches drift before it costs you.
